Understanding Calories
Calories are units of energy found in the food you eat.
3500 calories = 1 pound
Caloric deficit - Loss of energy that occurs when food energy (caloric intake) is less than the total energy your body uses, which results in weight loss.
Example; A Caloric Deficit of 3500 = losing 1 pound.
Effective weight loss plans consist of a creating a Caloric Deficit, by cutting back on caloric intake and increasing physical activity. If its more challenging to cut the calories, increase the exercise.
